Do you do family nights? What do you do? How do you gear them to reach all the age levels in your family?
We do not do family nights, though I’d like to.
I’ve heard of some family nights where the family does a devotional that includes a game/activity to reinforce the topic/story from the Bible. That seems really cool to me. A couple things have kept us from doing that – age differences and attention spans are big factors.
I’m thinking that maybe we’ll claim one night of the week to be “family night,” where we eat a favorite meal and then play a game (CandyLand, Uno) together. We do often go on family walks or out in our yard after dinner, but I'm wondering if labeling a night would make it more special. Any thoughts?

We definitely do a lot of family stuff together though we don't lable it as such, to be honest I don't think it matters if you call it anything specific just so long as you are spending time together, that's what they are going to remember. From my childhood, we never did a 'family night' as such but I remember the late night Sorry and Monopoly games with my mom and dad as if they were yesterday, I also remember that ate dinner together almost every single night for as long as I can remember.
On the devotional thing, we got 7 yo a bible for her bday, can't think of the name just yet, that was age appropriate for her, but it has actual scripture verses not just the stories (if you know what I mean). Anyway, we picked a book of the bible and just started reading a chapter or two at a time and when we finish reading we will ask each child a question that is age appropriate, like with 4 yo we might ask who was in the story and was that person good or bad or nice or mean or whatever. For the 5 yo we'd ask something similar and for the 7 yo we might ask, what was the general idea of what we just read, what is God telling us here or whatever...We try to do this after dinner a couple nights a week. We did a bible study with or church group that dealt with family devotions and one thing the pastor said that just stuck with us is that it doesn't matter the age, when they are little its the motions they will remember, the fact that you didn't all run your separate ways from the dinner table as soon as you were finished eating, that you stayed and prayed together and talked and learned. And as that child gets older and can participate, it will be such a habit that it will be even easier for them to get involved.
As a family we do lots of outings, as well as sitting outside while they ride their bikes or jumping with them on the trampoline (though not me lately ha ha). Ty often has projects that he is working that he will have them help him with, like handing him the nails or the screwdriver etc. We've done a few evening with games and stuff too but not consistently. Lately we've been playing the Wii alot with them too, bowling and golf games they love and actually they are pretty good!
One of my favorite memories as a child (as far back as 4 yo) was our "Family Fun Night". We would just all be home on friday nights and play games. It was time when we actually never fought and actually laughed! We bonded, even though there wasn't a bible study. It was sweet and I hope to do it as well in our family this year.

We don't do a "family night" but we spend lots of family time together most nights- taking walks, playing in the yard, going on a hike, going to the park, playing a game, etc...
Like you, Karen, I think I would like to name a day "family night" and make it a special family tradition.
