What’s your favorite or most effective way to study the Bible?
Mornings are best for me…in general. However, mornings have not been my friend while up during the night with 8 mo. I’m hoping to get back to being up before everyone else so I can do some quiet study in the mornings.
Precept study really fits my learning style – picking out specific words, going deeper into the chapter. God is also faithful in teaching me when I pick a random passage to read, look up a certain topic, or do something like “Read the Bible in One Year.”

I am reading the bible through in one year right now. It's nice because it's really only 3 or 4 chapters a day-totally doable! Usually I read during Levi's first nap in the morning, I have make myself do it first even if there are other things that need to get done, it help me through the day!
Bible study has gotten so much harder now that I have kids. I used to think "quiet time" with God had to be sitting down with my Bible for a half hour, 45 minutes and really focus in on reading and praying. Well, with children that is not often possible. I have days where it can be like that but they don't happen very often. I try to read from the Bible everyday, but some days I am happy to get to close the door to the bathroom and take out my Bible and read for 3 minutes while the kids stand on the other side of the door. Same with praying- little ones are full of noise and activity so I try to pray in the shower or on a walk or run in the morning before they wake up or whenver someone or a situation comes to my mind during the day. I write verses down and put them in a place I will see them as little reminders of God with me during the day. And putting on some worship music and letting the kids dance and join in is a good way for us all to put our focus on Jesus. Finally, I started reading The Message Bible. This brought some refreshment to read a different version and see things from a new perspective.
I LOVE Precept Ministries, because it helps me understand what is being said in the Bible. The historical background, the word definitions and cross-refrencing all bring bright light of understanding to passages that never made sense before. It is a time commitment, but it is SO worth it. I treasure my time with the Lord now. I also am trying to get up early, but if I don't get a "quiet time" I still try to make it a habit to converse with God through the entire day. I just love Him!

I really like Beth Moore. Our church has had 5 different studies starting 2 years ago with childcare provided. So I go once a week to watch the video and have group time with other women, and then it gives me quiet times to do throughout the week. And I swear at least once during every study it feels like she's talking directly to me (or is that God talking). :-)
I usually have about 2 hours over nap time to myself when I can really dive in. Really nice! Bring on the coffee!
