Moving

Do you like to move? Do you think – as much is within your control/desire – you’ll move around a lot?

I don't like change. It takes me a while to gear up for it and then to adjust. That said, however, I think the move from our apartment to this house was not one I fretted over. It happened quickly (saw the house, wrote the offer, closed and moved all within 3 weeks), but I think that helped me kick it into gear and deal with it.

I'd rather not move around a lot. As a kid, I lived in 2 main houses that I remember (though I think we lived in 4 different ones from the time I was born through high school). I really struggled with moving from the first one I remember (in IL); we'd lived there for 7 or 8 years. But I eventually learned to love the next house (in WI), where we were for another 7 years. It was while I was in college that my family moved from that house; it was hard to think of not seeing that house again. And the house they moved to never felt like home like the others did.

Also, my grandparents lived in the same house in Chicago for 40-some years! Can you believe it?! It was as much home as the house in which I lived. When I was a sophomore or junior in college, they sold that house and moved to a different one in IL. I'm amazed how much I miss their Chicago house! It's often a setting in my dreams. And I wish that my husband and kids could see that house, too, to get in on some of my memories there.

I'd really prefer not to move around a lot. And, luckily, my husband's job as a realtor kind of requires staying in one spot in order to build up his reputation here. I like the idea that the kids will have one house to live in and grow up in and come home to. I know that's naive and idealistic. But it's okay to dream. :)

hmmmmmm Us???? Are you kidding? Move, never! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Let's see, in my life before I was married/moved away from home, we moved to Venezuela but dont remember that one cuz i was 2, moved from venezuela to South Texas, then a few months later to North Texas where we stayed...and my dad still lives. Honestly though I don't remember the moves and don't remember it bothering me. When I went to college I was ready to go out on 'my own' so that move was fun. After marriage we moved from Irving (Dallas) to Littleton CO, 2 years later to Aurora CO, 2 years later to Estes, 2 1/2 years later to KS, 3 months later to Ireland to a small house, 10 months later to a bigger house and 18 months later, to the house we are in now! How many moves is that, I've lost count! You'd think by now I'd be a pro at it but actually I hate it! Really can't wait to be somewhere for a long time although I don't see it happening in our near future.....we'll see what God has planned.

I actually do like change- I think it's exciting. But I don't really like the idea of packing up a whole house and moving it! We moved into our current house 2 years ago when I was pregnant and had a 1 and 2 year old. Nothing like moving to realize all of the JUNK that you have and I hope we don't have to move it all for a very long time! Plus, we really like our house now and can't imagine moving unless God calls us somewhere else.
